The Gaming Experience

Every gamer knows that there are specific things you need to be a gamer. You need the game, some form of platform to play it on, and possibly controllers or other peripherals that you might want to use to play the game. With all the money spend on video games annually 20.5 billion as of 2013 according to Forbes (http://www.forbes.com/sites/davidewalt/2013/12/19/americans-will-spend-20-5-billion-on-video-games-in-2013/).

Now with that 20.5 billion, I have to laugh a little because that isn't even close to what is spent on consoles, computers, controllers, and other peripherals. That is only spent on buying the games, and paying micro transactions.

I personally have spend a thousand dollars on my own personal setup, on peripherals alone... I don't know about you but peripherals are where it is at. Whether it be a gaming mouse, a better headset for your console, or a steering wheel for your racing games. Peripherals add so much to the gaming experience.

With this being said, my goals for this blog are changing a bit. I will be switching things up and trying to get some reviews of different peripherals for computer gaming. I will  be checking for the best prices on these products. The main sites I will be looking at are the major distributors; Amazon, BestBuy, WalMart, NewEgg, and the company themselves. As a gamer I know that searching everywhere for reviews and checking prices is one of the most annoying things.

I personally wanted to take that aspect out of the product buying experience. When I was looking at what mouse or headphones to get I did a ton of research. I looked up a bunch of YouYube videos and read a ton of reviews on different sites. It is a hassle.

Then I go in to a store like my local BestBuy only to be looking at prices and have the guy who works there be a fan boy about a product and tell someone else there that this is the best product on the market. Only to be trying to help my fiancée pick a mouse and keyboard out for her rig.

I understand that there are fan boys, I really do. Yet is this product really for you? Are you a total Razer fan boy? Do you only buy that companies products? Have you ever touched anything other than that companies product?  What do you prefer in a specific product like a mouse?

I know that I personally, am not a big fan of light weight mice. I feel like I am going to break them. I want something that I don't feel like I will break if I am playing an action MMO. I also only need a few buttons. If there are thumb buttons I don't want to feel like I am going to press them whenever I move the mouse or try to get a better grip on the mouse. So I went with the Rival by SteelSeries (Also it is my first gaming mouse...dear god how did I play games without a gaming mouse?!?!)

Everyone is different. Everyone wants something that is more suited to them. Some of you may be fanboys. Others of you may just be trying to piece together stuff that feels comfortable to you. Every gamer is different, just like every game we play. We adapt to the game, and the best way we can do that is with peripherals.

I can't tell you how many times I have gone into a stores electronic section just to browse games and see what is on sale during the holiday season. Only to have a father or mother ask me what they should get for their gamer. I know that the people that work in these stores are trying... I really do. Yet, sometimes those people push just to make the sale. Just to make a buck. Or to get the annoying person to leave. There are also the salespeople who don't know the product they are trying to sell, they are trying their best, but without much knowledge about the products that are available.

When I am asked by the parent, grandparent, girlfriend, boyfriend, brother, or sister. I actually care. I want to help them understand that being a gamer isn't just about shooting people on the latest CoD. Or breaking another controller. It is about fun and interactive entertainment.

My plans for this blog and the future of Empyre, lays within my love for gaming, and wanting to help people that don't game understand their gamer. I also want gamers and those buying gaming gear or peripherals for their gamer, to have the best products at the best prices.

Thank you all for joining me on this mission!
