Starting YouTube

This post is something that I have been thinking about a lot lately. I have been thinking about how to help others get into YouTube and how to succeed in it. That being said, there are many ways to start a YouTube channel. Some people may want to start a Vlog channel, others may want to do a top ten channel. Then there are those that want to get into YouTube for video games.

My first suggestion for getting into YouTube is to realize that you don't start as one of the big YouTube stars. When you start a YouTube channel. You are low man on the totem pole. You won't get paid, nor will you have help from others unless you pay for it. Or decide to join an MCN (Multi-Channel Network)

I personally would advise that you not join an MCN right off the bat. In my experiance with the MCN I was with. Specific topics that I wanted to talk about were off limits. Which I had to end up tweeking in order to talk about these subjects. The MCN's do this to protect themselves from backlash from many different areas.

Pertaining to those that want to have a video game channel. I would suggest starting out with free to play games. Those games are easily available to everyone and have the highest likely hood of not getting you a copyright strike.

Now for those of you on a budget I will talk about gear you will need. (This is the avenue that I took, there is a possabity that this one won't work for you but my suggestions will help you decide how to run your channel.

First off you will need a webcam, this is so you can film yourself talking to your audiance. Seeing you helps you become more personable and believable. My personal suggestion is a webcam that is 1080p if it is lower than that the pixels will look decent till you move.

The webcam I use is the Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920. It has some of the highest reviews of any of the other webcams and more bang for your buck

Then we have mic or microphone  I originally went with a gaming headset mic. Which worked for a good while. Till I could get a real mic.

Logitech G430 Surround Sound Gaming Headset with Dolby 7.1 Technology

Then I went for a Blue Yeti Mic

Now I know that this mic is a little spendy, but it is worth it. You could also go with the Blue Snowball which is a bit cheaper.

Then I get to talk about the free stuff. For recording everything from webcam to game play. I use OBS, which isn't the best on the market but it gets the job done. It does have a weird learning curve though. I know I have totally messed mine up a few time. Or I forgot that I had it set to stream and not record, or the other way around. So always make sure you are on Record if you want to Record and Stream if you want to Stream.

Now for my audio I use Audacity which is a program I can't live with out anymore. It gives you the ability to edit your audio before you export it to your video editor. It is one of the most powerful programs I use. I love it.

Video editors are a dime a dozen. From Windows Movie Maker, to Adobe Premiere. I know the programs you pay for are amazing and the main free ones suck so hard that you want to cry at night. Trust me I made many videos with Windows Movie Maker. I wanted to cry. Plus it never renedered everything the way I wanted.

Yet there is hope my newly started YouTube friend. I have used many programs, but the one I like the most is actually a progam called LightWorks.  It is a very powerful program, that I haven't even begun to actually touch.

I hope this has helped you all understand that YouTube really isn't that hard to get into. All it takes is a little hard work and maybe a bit of money. Know that what you are willing to spend will dictate the quality of your videos and the quality of your content. With my gaming headset. I had to shout to even hear my voice enough to edit it in the video. (Before I got audacity)

I don't pretend to know everything about YouTube, but I do know a few things about computers, audio, video editing, and branding. I hope that in the end this will help you all.

Reinventing

Over the past year that I have been trying to do my whole YouTube, Blogger, and game critic thing. I have learned a lot. I have learned that not everything is worth the fight or the drama ( in referance to gamergate). I have also learned that just beacuse you can say something about someone or something just to get views. Doesn't mean you should.  Something that gets a ton of views today may only get you a few tomorrow.

So, in conclusion I have come to a fork in the road. I can either do what everyone else is doing (which is pumping out videos to get views and to get the next influx of viewers for the next greatest game). Or I could do something that I think will not only benefit myself but others like me. No, I am not going to stop going videos for my YouTube channel. No, I will not stop trying to reach the point I want to reach as a gamer; which is to be a game critic of sorts.

Yet, as it stands I feel like I want more. Not just from my viewers and my community, but from myself as well. In order to get to where I am today, I had to do a lot of things. I am not a big YouTuber by any means, but I did do a ton of research and looked at a bunch of things. From computer peripherals all the way to games that people enjoy watching.

I know I have tried to entertain you all through my YouTube videos and my blog. I also know I am not very entertaining in specific instances. Yet, I want to do more. I want to share my personal knowledge about things, pertaining to YouTube and gaming. I want to help you all be able to do the best you can with what you have or the money you can spend.

I haven't taken this choice lightly. I have been mulling it around in my head for the past month or so. Right now I can't say much about what I am planning, because I want it all to be up and running before I announce it. That way you all can see what I have created.  I also have to figure out which avenues to take, because I know that this road forks as well.

In a sense, I want to create something that everyone can use in order to help them grow their channel, blog, or what have you. I want more than just a group of people who watch my videos and either like, share, and subscribe, or just leave the video ten seconds in.

I want to build the biggest gaming community there ever has been and ever will be. I want Empyre to mean something to people. I want it to be a group that gamers can join and be accepted no matter the platform they play on. I have sat by to long, waiting for others to try and do this.

WELL...NOT ANYMORE. Ladies and gentlemen... No, That's not right. Boys and girls... Nope, that's not right either... PC Master Ra.... No.. Xbo... No... PlaySta... No... We are none of these and  all of these. We are not a group that is racist twoards the other platforms. We are one single group divided by companies that just want money. We are a group of people who enjoy playing video games. No matter the game from simple games like candy crush to huge triple A titles like Doom.

WE ARE GAMERS...
